FAIRsharing engagement grows within Oxford research support

Last year, we reported on the first set of Oxford FAIRsharing Community Champions. In 2025, our growing engagement within Oxford research support, RDM and research practice areas has resulting in a corresponding growth in our Champion numbers from within Oxford. FAIRsharing is rooted in the University via a group of Oxford Champions from Bodleian Libraries, IT services, and Medical Sciences. This collaboration will result in greater connectivity for FAIRsharing’s registry and educational provision within Oxford’s Research Practice Programme and Community.

David Tomkins has joined FAIRsharing via a short-term contract with the Oxford e-Research Centre to provide targeted curation within our registries for the next few months.

Jason Partridge is the Open Access Services Lead at the Oxford University Research Archive (ORA), the institutional repository for the University of Oxford. As well as working with FAIRsharing in the context of minting DOIs and creation of a data preservation plan via ORA, Jason is also exploring additional cross referencing of FAIRsharing content within ORA and engagement with the FAIR assistance work FAIRsharing is participating in through OSTrails.

Laurence Brown is the University of Oxford Research Support team leader. He is interested in the development of a community of practice around good data stewardship and Oxford, and is working with multiple groups such as Research Data Oxford (RDO) to create an integrated view of RDM at Oxford that incorporates educational material and content from FAIRsharing, as appropriate.

Tim Gamble-Turner is a Research Technology Specialist within the University of Oxford Research Support team. He is continuing his integration of FAIRsharing content with the RDO pages, and the accompanying curation of our policy registry.

Timothee Aubourg is a Senior Data Scientist at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neuroscience and is working with another of our FAIRsharing Champions, Hugh Shanahan, on the linking of the outputs of the PRO4RS RDA/ReSA working group that is working on how policies describe software sharing.

Alex Rooney, Mark McKerracher, and Catherine Conisbee come to FAIRsharing from the Sustainable Digital Scholarship (SDS) team. SDS is one of the Bodleian Libraries’ research data management services, helping projects and researchers to store, publish and sustain their research data outputs. With a focus on training, education and researcher engagement, they are already incorporating FAIRsharing into their materials and presentations, with additional collaborations planned.
