The FAIRsharing community at RDA Plenary 27

FAIRsharing is looking forward to attending the RDA 27th Plenary (P27) in London, running from October 6-8 2026. We have a wide variety of stakeholders and collaborators that, like us, are active within the RDA and the plenaries are a great way to spend some time with them on topics that matter to the RDM community. This year, FAIRsharing and our Champions are engaged in sessions relating to research data standards, stewardship, policy, data quality, and trustworthy AI governance across the RDA ecosystem.

FAIRsharing Champions at P27

Our Champions are co-chairing, presenting, and leading sessions across a wide range of domains at P27:

Lindsey Anderson is co-chairing the Multi-Omics Metadata Standards Integration (MOMSI) WG session, MOMSI Unleashed: Shaping an Open, Interoperable Multi‑Omics Commons. She is also leading the Birds of a Feather (BoF) session Beyond the Chatbot: Standards for AI Agents in Research Data Workflows.
Mijke Jetten is co-chairing and contributing to several major sessions, including Data Stewards: Professionalisation, Value, Impact as well as Community driven FAIR assessment across research domains and infrastructures and the Life Science Data Infrastructures IG session on AI-ready data infrastructure.
Lyndon Zass will be a keynote speaker during the Plenary Session “Community & Sustainability”, and joining the high-level panel discussion “From Global Commons to Local Commitment: Who Sustains Open Science” that is a part of that session.
Romain David is running the BoF session Data Quality: Towards Cross-domain Harmonisation, Provenance-aware Approaches, Uncertainty Management and Interoperable Practices.

FAIRsharing at P27

Beyond our Champions, the FAIRsharing Team and Working Group (including co-chair Allyson Lister) will be actively involved throughout the week in speaking, co-chairing and contributing roles:

Pre-Plenary Co-Located Event (5 Oct): Although our team is unable to attend pre-plenary events, we will be watching the outcomes of this session as we are active within a number of ELIXIR programmes and services: AI in Research: Understanding trust, federation, and the user experience, highlighting ELIXIR AI discussions around AI-ready data and infrastructure governance.
Research Data Policy IG: Speaking on the Editorial Reference Handbook during the session Research Data Policy: showcasing recent development from international projects (Breakout 1).
TRSP WG: Co-chairing our final outputs session for the Technical Repository Service Providers WG, Broadening the Umbrella of Trust: TRSP WG Final Outputs (Breakout 1).
Engaging with life science partners in AI-ready data infrastructure: Technical federation, knowledge network & social fabric (Breakout 4), bringing together ELIXIR and RDA communities around AI-ready bioscience infrastructure.
Co-organising and speaking in the joint session Community driven FAIR assessment across research domains and infrastructures (Breakout 5) alongside the Professionalising Data Stewardship IG, FAIRification of Genomic Annotations WG, and Life Science Data Infrastructures IG to explore registry-driven FAIR metadata and resource tracking.
